Getting ready for open access data

It is exciting that there are now avenues for open access publishing of the data Liveable Cities is collecting (e.g., open data depositories and open data journals).

Open access data will allow rich datasets such as the CAM to be mined by other researchers beyond the scope of the Liveable Cities research programme and beyond its life (the programme comes to an end in April 2017). Open data is in its infancy, but that has not stopped it making for exciting times in research. For the CAM team, this means creating datasets that are useful for and usable by others. This includes not only their content, but crucially their structure. Work has already started to find the best dataset design and we hope that going through this process will not only influence future research, but also improve our current work.
